Role Summary
We're looking for a hands-on Network & Security Engineer to support and secure a small but growing regional IT environment for a public agency in the Tahoe area. You'll be responsible for core network infrastructure, endpoint protection, and system hardening—with an emphasis on preventative monitoring, risk mitigation, and real-time response.

Role Summary
We're looking for a hands-on Network & Security Engineer to support and secure a small but growing regional IT environment for a public agency in the Tahoe area. You'll be responsible for core network infrastructure, endpoint protection, and system hardening—with an emphasis on preventative monitoring, risk mitigation, and real-time response.
Responsibilities
- Manage and configure network infrastructure: switches, routers, firewalls, and VPN
- Perform regular vulnerability scans and system audits
- Support virus and malware protection systems across the enterprise
- Maintain spam filtering and content controls
- Monitor logs and alerts, escalate as needed
- Provide technical input on system upgrades and network security planning
- Collaborate with system admins and third-party vendors to maintain compliance
- 5+ years experience in network engineering and information security
- Deep understanding of firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and antivirus tools
- Experience working in mixed Windows/cloud environments (Azure, Microsoft 365)
- Strong documentation and reporting skills
- Ability to be on-site in Stateline, NV periodically
- CompTIA Security+, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, or similar
- Familiarity with public sector or transportation agency environments
$65–$90/hr depending on experience
